Default Our Friendly Neighbor Moves On...

America's friendly neighbor, Mister Rogers, passed away today after a brief struggle with stomach cancer. He lived to be 74. A large percent of our generation grew up with Mr. Rogers when we were young children. I did. Mister Roger's gentle and caring nature was often a target of newer, hipper cartoons and shows which deemed him "uncool". At some points, Mr. Roger's or an event on his show may have been a little relaxed but I still think he's better than any of today's "hip and wild" children's shows. In 2002, he was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bush. The highest awarded civiian medal of honor for "his contribution to the well-being of children and a career in public television that demonstrated the importance of kindness, compassion and learning". If anyone here would like to say something about Mr. Roger's and how he made an impact in your life, please do so.

NOOO!!!!

*sob* *sob*

Damnit.. Mr. Dressup's gone.. And the Friendly Giant.. and now Mr. Rogers! Oh god! It won't be a beautiful day in the neighbourhood tomorrow! Or the next day! Or the day after that!! ;_;

In all seriousness, I used to watch him as a kid as well a lot on PBS. I didn't have much of a taste for American TV; I hadn't even been watching the Simpsons by then.. but I got to watch Mr. Rogers. I could swear he was the most gentle man in the world--you could see it in his smile. I remember sticking with Mr. Rogers and Mr. Dressup for the most part when I was growing up. He was a cool man. I wish he could have stayed on this planet longer.

He touched the hearts of many. He will be missed.

I watched him all the time. Very sad...take a stroll through your neighborhood or talk to your neighbor to honor the man that was...

I considered Mr. Rogers like a TV father. I spent a lot of time with him while growing up. I used to watch that show constantly. I agree with a lot of what Dyne said and he will be greatly missed.
He was a wonderful man.

who cares if he died today or early yesterday, all there is now is that hes gone NOOOOO!!!!! i used to watch him as a kid, hes was the most friendliest and most inspiring person there was on t.v. screw barney, hes most likely to be gay but this guy had a good heart and talent, i think there should be a memorial outside the t.v. station of where it all started so he will always be remembered..

Damn, this came as kind of a shock when I saw it on Yahoo. But he had a great run and will be remembered for a long time. I used to watch him once in a while way back when.

I heard about this yesterday and told many people. It is sad. I remember watching Mr. Rogers as a kid. The guy was very healthy and always nice.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Rogers.

My mom never used to let me watch the show sometimes because she thought he was a pervert, lol.

But he was a good guy.
