And no, I'm not joking. Scientists (like Neo) have just proven that the speed of gravity is equal to the speed of light. Something Einstein predicted a while ago.
Heh, you weren't kidding after all.

At my favorite Microplay location i knew the mirrior there wasd a two way mirrior because sometimes i could see the owner in the back whenever he had the light ON!....besides it was pretty obvious it wasn't there for customers to fix their hair where it was located....

But isn't Shadow Link right??? Gravity is acceleration, not speed. If you have enough acceleration, everything can reach the speed of light, right?
Xantar? Neo?

No, Gekko/Neo got it right... Think about this. If the sun were to suddenly dissapear, it would take around 8 minutes for us to see the effects (not see the sun)... Now some people thought that gravity had an 'instant' effect, hence people THOUGHT if the sun dissapeared, the earth would 'instantly' fly out of it's orbit because of no gravity. But some experiments have been performed to calculate it's speed, and scientists have found out that, within a 20% margin of error, that gravity does indeed have the same speed as light. And so if the sun dissapears, it would also take around 8 minutes for the Sun effect of gravity on the earth to totally dissapear, hence only after the 8 minutes are up, would the earth fly away.

But the gravity on Earth isn't great enough to equal the speed of light. You need an object with a greater amount of mass for the gravity to be great enough for that.

I think you are talking about acceleration... The value of G in terms of acceleration varies, but I think the speed doesn't.

The value G on earth = 9.81m/s/s (that's acceleration).

The value of G on the moon = 1/6 of that on the Earth.

I think Neo might be able to clear this up better than I can?

Well, what that means is the effect of a gravitational producing body propagates outwards at the speed of light. So if a planet suddenly shifted a couple au's in some direction, the time it would take for us to "feel" it is equal to the distance between us and the plant divided by the speed of light. It's not an instantaneous effect in other words. No signal or change can travel faster than the speed of light.

THanks Neo. You just made me even more confused.

I wonder what the theories will be in let's say 100 years. Probably based on ours, just more detailed and complex.
Perhaps there is something faster than light.
