I looked at your little post before but I forgot if I replied or not, but I figured that, counting games on main consoles (before Wind Waker), 4 out of 5 Zelda games (I think it was) had a shield AND/OR sword... And it doesn't matter if it's both shield and sword or if they look the same, it's just the fact that there's a shield and/or sword because well... Link uses a shield and sword
MM I think was the only one that had a different logo, which, of course, was also the last Zelda game to be released on a major console...
As for Handheld games, I havn't played any of them, but you said that Link's Awakening had the shield and sword or just a shield or something, I forgot... but then the other two were totally different... which is one out of 3 handheld games, which means a total of 5 out of 8 Zelda games had a shield and/or sword and they didn't change that until the most recent Zeldas...
