i suppose you're right, there's really nothing that ties them together besides being in the town of Silent Hill. but when i look at SH2, it just feels like its after the events of SH1, cuz in SH1 there were still some people in the town and it looked like it was just recently evacuated. But in SH2, there's no one there, except for the other people that have purposely come there. and it seems a lot more calmer in SH2 (not that SH2 was calm ), like in SH1 there seemed to be a lot more going on, but in SH2 it seemed like things were just picking up again and the horror was starting over.

in SH1 there was Dahlia to sorta explain the story and make things more clear, but in SH2 all the people have just come to town and know nothing about it at all. SH2 seemed like it was made to coincide with SH1. in Sh1 there was more explanation to what was happening. Sh2 looks like its suppose to be self-explanatory whereas things were just sorta happening for no reason, there was no explanation and that made it all the more scary. this series has always poped questions in my mind (that tells you the developers did a good job), i never can quite understand it so i have to try to make sense of it myself.
