Just got XP, One Question
Well, I finally got Windows XP. I know a little late, but I'm slow. I have one question though: I upgraded to XP from 98 and I can't seem to delete this stupid MSN Internet Access icon. I know in 98 you could delete it with Tweak UI, but in the XP version of Tweak UI you can't Any suggestions?

Is it the MSN Desktop Icon? I don't know if it stil works anymore in XP, but you can always try a Single-click on it, then tap the "Delete" key, it might not remove the program, but it'll get rid of the Icon in Win 9x, not sure about Nt/2k/Xp though. Best bet to remove an Icon is to Highlight it and tap the "Delete" key on the keyboard.

It's an icon, but it is the crap Microsoft was be sued over. It is impossible to delete, move, or cut. I know in 98 you could delete it through TweakUI, but the XP version of TweakUI doesn't have the option. Highlighting it doesn't work either.
Here's a picture of my desktop if you don't know what I'm talking about, it's the 'MSN Internet Access' icon:

I've never used a PC at home so this is just a stab in the dark but would dragging it to the Recycle Bin do anything? Then, perhaps emptying the recycle bin or whatever you do with that?

That's what I downloaded, but I couldn't find where in TweakUI to delete icons. All I found was how to set your first icon.

Ok, this is very strange, mabe it's just XP, but on my Little Bro's Windows 98 machine, I deleted a Bunch of Icons/Programs that were for ISP's, including:
- Disney's Daily Blast
- Compuserve
- Prodigy
- Juno
and "MSN Internet Access", the Icon was slightly Different because it was an older version, but on Windows (8, with nothing like Tweak UI installed, I Just Clicked on it with the mouse, hit the "Delete" key, got te Dalog Box asking me if I wanted to delete the Icon, clicked "Yes", opened the "Recycle Bin", clicked "Empty Recylce Bin", and never saw it again.
NOw I can honestly say, Unless you're using that Program, I see know reason why you shouldn't be able to delete the Icon, but I haven't tried it in XP, so I can't help much more than I already have.

Yeah, I think it is different, because I was able to delete it on Windows 98, but not on XP. When I highlight the icon and press the delete key nothing happens. And when I try to drag it to the Recycle Bin I get the international no sign. And there is only create shortcut, copy, and open if you right click on the icon. No delete or anything.

Yeah that should do it. If not, go to www.tweaktown.com and read their XP tweak quide. It enables you to reveal microsoft programs (MSN Explorer, .net Framesomething) in add/remove programs folder and delete them. That's if I remember correctly.
