SMS textures, and a bunch of other stuff
IGN cube:
Quote:
Ok, first lets go with the water. The water is textured! The water is also bumpmapped, and does BOTH reflection and REFRACTION! how many games do that? At the exact SAME time every single texture in the game is Bumpmapped. If you don't own it shut-up, they ARE! NEXT, the game displays so MANY textures on screen at once some of the textures have to be less detailed, including the characters which usually don't have any.
Now, why did they do this yo ask? Because ALL THE TIME YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING! Fran made the comment in his impressions that you can see as far as the eye can go, enimies, coins and everything. It's True, the gamecube keeps all this stuff in memory so I emagine that it starts running out after so much.
For instance, on the Giant Swing on Mama's Island, the game has ALL the WATER effects going on around you, everything on land is being drawn, and the game is calculation some of the SWEETEST PHISICS I HAVE EVER SEEN. I mean depending on where or when you fire your cannon the swing slows down or speeds up! WoW!!! Anywa, the game is doing an awfull lot. And until anyone has owned and played it, you won't know it!

Sunshine's system is essentially based off of Mario 64 (it's an expanded version of that). Sunshine is an evolution, not a revolution (Miyamoto doesn't deny that).
You'd think with 6 six years between Mario 64 and Sunshine, and Sunshine being on a next-gen system that the graphics would be a little more up to snuff with todays standards, but the game still looks amazing.

That article is probably the reason its graphics arent all that. They must have spent a lot of time with all that.

While I won't deny that I've been anticipating Mario Sunshine more than any other "confirmed" game this year; Mario Kart for Cube is what I've really been awaiting (Mario Kart Online would be a dream come true).
I am a huge fan of the original Mario Kart (SNES), and Mario Kart 64 (I must have spent at least 1000 hours of my life playing that game with friends).

WTF are "PHISICS"
anyway, i dont care. I just dont care. Screenshots cant do this game a damn bit of justice. I'm wating for gameplay vids to download (56k) and the few ive seen so far have been close to orgasmic.
