Basically, I only use an Analog stick when analog controlls are required...

like in tony hawk, the D Pad can make your eight tricks as simple as pressing a button, while the Stick is more pron to making errors.

For example, with a stick you can't stop on a dime because the button is still pressing a little when you let go... so precision movement becomes more diffucult. A game like Mario or Zelda is good for the stick, but when you play a game where you come off a ramp and try to stop exactly after 3 spins that loss of precision stopping makes it harder to land.

in sports games, like Madden, I use the D-Pad because when running I need to stop some times to take the defense off of thier feet... while in basketball games I use the analog stick because angleing towards the basket becomes eaisier.

Overall, I prefer the D-Pad... the stick is only used in special occasions for me.
