Default Re: Top 5 Favorite Games of All-Time

#1 - Half-Life: I've already talked this one up a hundred times here, but this is the framework for all FPS games that don't hark back to Doom. Oh, and it submerged you in the world of Black Mesa and gave you an awesome game to boot. I'd also consider No One Lives Forever as a desert island pick for this spot.

#2 - Counter-Strike: I've also talked this one up.

The bottom 3 rotate for me in a big way and I would have a hard time breaking it down.

I think right now I'd say:

#3 - OoT/Link's Awakening - These two games sucked me into the world of Zelda and defined my childhood. OoT is classic Zelda and I've played through that game way too many times. Link's Awakening is seriously the most underrated Zelda title.

#4 - Rollercoaster Tycoon/GTA3 - Sandbox games are the mother fucking business. This one is a toss-up. I played RCT to death and still play it on occasion. GTA3 changed my life by putting a city into my house...and letting me fuck that city up. Nothing says retribution like getting rear-ended by a pedestrian and pulling that asshole out of his car and lighting him on fire with a Molotov. That's therapy, baby.

#5 - Mario franchising this bitch - I can't say here. Super Mario 64 blew me away, but so did Super Mario Bros. 3. And I have spent hours upon hours (sober and not sober) playing Mario Kart and Mario Party. And the occasional successful spinoff like Paper Mario....

If I had to pick a desert island Mario title, the line of questioning would go like this:

Will I be alone?

Yes -> probably Paper Mario 64 or maaaybe Super Mario Sunshine

No -> Mario Party 2 or Mario Kart 64

Notable mention to Halo, L4D, Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie, a handful of racing titles, a handful of platformer titles, etc. This is a tough question so instead of answering based on philosophical qualifications I just rolled with the games I love and play the most.
