There's a ton of great TV shows on the air.
And they run the gauntlet of quality and genres.

That said, there's still something about a big blockbuster movie that puts it above a TV show for me.

Add to that list:

Modern Family
Boardwalk Empire
Dr. Who
Supernatural
Deadliest Catch (best reality TV show ever)

And lets not forget the recently completed Battlestar Galactica that will go down as the greatest television show of all time.
