Buy Portal 2 for PS3 and get it for PC too.
Really!?
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6286433.html
I still don't believe it. I always buy valve games for PC because I consider it the absolute experience. The modding community is exclusive to it. The support is the best, the multi player is better (TF2 with 32 players? Hell yeah!) and the online is free and have achievements and what not. But now with this offer... I'll get it on PS3 too. I have to admit, I will miss having the PC box and manuals for the game just for the sake of it ( I buy everything else through steam but not valve's games, I like to have those). But my PS3 could use some more achievements and games that are not on clearance.
So... what do you think about this deal?

Re: Buy Portal 2 for PS3 and get it for PC too.
If I'm buying the console version, why would I want the PC version? I obviously prefer to play games on consoles, and I certainly don't need to beat the game same twice.
Can't really make sense of it from a business perspective either. I guess all the PC gamers can just buy the PS3 version now, providing false statistics to NPD, and putting a lot of used games on the market. Likewise, the PS3 gamers can sell the extra copy for less than the Steam price and keep the money far away from Valve.

The only game I have for both Wii and PC is World of Goo. And I got the PC version for €1.
2x Portal 2? No thanks...

Better support, Mods, Free online and achievements. And, IMO, better controls. But yeah, I was already considering this deal weird just because they're losing money on the pc versions they can sell. My only idea for this is that they're helping Sony a bit and trying to be in good terms for a company they talked some crap about in the past.

You mentioned why when you mentioned Steam. The PC version will require Steam to be installed, and that will increase Valve's exposure.

If there are those of you who don't like the free offer, you could just gift it to me over Steam. Or I could pay $5 or something.

If you have to link your PS3 copy to your Steam Account (possible) then I don't think they can gift it to you. And that's what I think they'll do since the PS3 version will be... "fully supported by SteamWorks, allowing for auto-updates, downloadable content, and community support directly from Valve." So you can have copies for both of them but only one person logged into steam can play it at any given time.

I thought it might be that way. But I hope not
