Batman: Arkham City (Fall 2011)

A bundle of Batman: Arkham City gameplay and story details have leaked onto the net - and for fans of gadgets, it's good news.

According to blog-friendly readers of the latest edition of US mag GameInformer, the title sees Two-Face attempting to assassinate Catwoman to gain the respect of Gotham's criminal network.



The titular Arkham City appears to have been created by former Mayoral Candidate (and all-round bad egg) Quincy Sharp - who buys and then walls off part of the city's slums.

Our favourite new pearl of wisdom is that Batman himself starts the game with all of the gadgets he had when he finished Arkham Asylum - plus a trademark smoke bomb. Jolly good.

Story details (thanks to the Arkham City blog) are:

- Quincy Sharp is no [longer] running for mayor
- Arkham Asylum and Black Gate Prison are unfit to hold inmates
- Quincy Sharp buys off part of the slums and walls it off, creating Arkham City
- Hugo Strange is in charge of Arkham City
- Two-Face plans to execute Catwoman to gain respect of inmates
- The overdose of venom may not be what's wrong with the Joker

Gameplay details are:

- You are now able to counter two attacks at once
- More puzzles
- All gadgets included in the first game are available from the start
- Side missions now feature in the game
- Gangs roam Arkham City, these are recorded in Batman's criminal database
- You find people who work for [Riddler] to find [Riddler] challenges
- Batman has his smoke bomb
