Have pretty much known this was probably happening for 2 months now. Stupid Paul and his "I dunno, maybe there will be a Marvel 3"

This also pretty much confirms that there will be another fighting game gem coming back very soonish.

Also assume it's the TvC engine or something entirely new. Kinda pumped about this because I doubt it will have all the silly Infinites that MvC2 had. That shit was retarded. Fucking 1 and 2 frame links. Dumb.

So this isn't "officially" confirmed, but fairly good insider source (The same people who leaked the new characters list for SSF4 that I posted way before it was official.

Anyway this is being developed on the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom engine. Yup. Officially not excited.

I'd imagine they probably have significant influence. I think Capcom's willing to go pretty far to keep them happy, given the sketchy relationship the two companies have had in the past.
