Default The Top 10 Songs from Musicals

So, was casually trollin dez parts when this happened:

BaB: I hate you Moogle, make a top 10 list.

Me: Uh... About RPGs?

BaB: No about Musicals.

Me: Fine, I hope you choke on potato chips later you fat ****!"

So here it is, TheSlyMoogle's top ten songs from musicals:

10. Once More with Feeling (Buffy Musical Episode) - I've got a theory

Now this is pretty much a cult hit, the whole episode that is. Pretty much the whole musical episode was amazing, and it got nominated for a ton of awards (and won a bunch too). I chose this song because it sorta says what Buffy is about. And also what do Bunnies need such good eye sight for anyways?

9. Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long blog - Laundry Day

Born out of the writer's strike that sorta fucked up television for everyone, we have this awesome internet sensation. With my freeze ray I will stop... the world. A sentiment I can agree with.

8. Chicago - Cell block tango

What's not to love about this song? The whole thing is set in Chicago in the roaring 20s and is based on basically true stories. Actually the real ladies are a fair bit crazier than the musical girls. The sultry 6 of the cook county jail, make you want to pop. six. squish. uh uh. cisero. lipschitz. all night long.

7. Cats - Memory

Cats is the longest running musical ever. It's like super popular because of furries or some weird internet bullshit like that. Oh and also because of this song.

6. The Sound of Music - Do Re Mi

We all know the sound of music. Perhaps one of the first musicals you ever saw. It's so fucking popular that bitches just know it from birth. That doesn't mean the music was all that great though. However improv everywhere type bit was done for a cell phone commercial in like germany or something, and it's pretty awesome. Of course the beats in the middle are not part of the original, but we needed some spices, right?

5.Singin' in the Rain - Singin' in the Rain

Uhm who doesn't know this song? Gene Kelly was a badass too. No shit. I couldn't find an original version of the song on youtube that allowed embedding, but thought this usher/gene kelly mix wasn't too bad other than a weird blip 3/4 in or so. Enjoy.

4. The Wizard of Oz - Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Wizard of Oz. Hello?! I don't know about you people, but I watched the shit outta this movie when I was like 5. I couldn't get enough, how awesome would it be to get swept away into another world and shit? Badass, that's what it would have been. I once again couldn't find an embeddable version of the original, so Kat McPhee it is. She was like runner up on one of the American Idol seasons. She's totally hot though, so don't be pissed. Look at that mouth.

3. Rent - Seasons of Love

Rent is one of the most popular american musicals, and for good reason. Taking the opera La Boheme and making it into a rock-n-roll musical about the late 80s, well that's solid gold right there my friend. Seasons of Love was the feel good message of the musical, enjoy.

I have a slight tie here for 2 so I'll just cheat and post both.

1st we have:

Moulin Rouge - Love Medley

Well Moulin Rouge basically was like that crazy avant garde sorta musical, and this song really exemplifies the whole musical. It was a great musical, and there was much more goodness to be found.

2nd we have:

Avenue Q - The Internet is for Porn

So Avenue Q burst onto the scene a few years ago, and it was hilarious. The whole thing is a satirical view of the modern day world set in a sesame street world! HILARIOUS! I highly suggest seeing it if ever possible, and at the very least listening to the songs.

Well I'm cheating again for number 1.

1st we have:

Wicked - Defying Gravity

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3g4ekwTd6Ig

The original cast version is too good, so you'll just have to leave the site. Sorry. This musical is based on the book "Wicked: The Life and Time of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Greg Maguire. Basically when people saw this musical they shat bricks. Literally there is a house made of shit bricks thanks to this musical. It was that good.

2nd we have:

The Rocky Horror Picture Show - Time Warp

No musical list would be complete without a little RHPS. It's crazy, it's catchy and it's the biggest cult phenomenon I know of. Halloween wouldn't be complete without doing the Time Warp that's for fucking sure. Plus the old man necessary.

Well there you go. Top 10 list for BaB. Maybe we'll get all kinds of crazy new members to dispute.
