If I remember correctly, at the start of the game, there was only one Mafia member, and each round, he was able to "infect" a good guy and turn him or was it every other round, anyhow it was something along those lines. And when the original MAfia was killed off, no new ones could be made.
So it became a game of paranoia since someone you allied with could suddenly turn evil and you'd be in trouble.

Oh like I read Conversation Mafia, not conversion. Whoops. However suppose a Mafia could be done in a giant MSN convo, over the course of a couple of hours max.
