Re: Mafia Round 5 - Christmas Edition
I think I have a thoughtful decision this time. I find it funny that Earl never talked to me about Teuthida this game. Either he didn't have much to say to him, or he just isn't caring about the game, hmmm.

Re: Mafia Round 5 - Christmas Edition
Well, fellas.
The game is over.
Typhoid was the last mafia.
But before he died, he murdered Angrist.
I have a horrible feeling that the mafia was rooted out due to BreakABone's demanding people tell them their role PM.
This would make me sad for two reasons.
1. I failed to make a failsafe to prevent that strategy.
2. That strategy really isn't in the spirit of the game.
Hopefully the villagers were just really on the ball this game.
Anyways!
CONGRATULATIONS!
This is now the end game thread.

Re: Mafia Round 5 - Christmas Edition
Damnit Sean, I knew I couldn't trust you. Hahahah.
P.S. I was the Seer. Take that, mariolover!
BreakABone had nothing to do with my Seer results - I gradually got more people knowing what was up, like a good Seer should do. I'm glad I found out manasecret right away.

Re: Mafia Round 5 - Christmas Edition
We demand a narration!
Nice going. Ehm, my dying scene goes like this:
As the sellsword Angrist fell on the ground with the dart between his ribs, a grin came to his face. That grin just said one thing: "Hah, I was right."
So BaB discovered who the Vigilante was, using that dirty trick? That is pretty lame...
Like Dyne said, we did pretty good without BaB.

What the hell are you talking about? Bond told me he was the vigilante.. no dirty tricks involved. Same deal with Vamp who told me he was Guardian... I didn't ask either one of them to show me there PM.
What the hell is this about anyone...
I simply used a keyword system, and wanted to see if anyone would use the word plain ole to describe themselves. No one... unless misunderstood my message was asked to screencap or copy/paste or anything else their PM.

Re: Mafia Round 5 - Christmas Edition
BaB, myself, Dyne, and others formed an alliance based on trust. No screen capping was used. It just so happened I was the vigilante and Dyne was the seer, more luck than anything else.
I think the issue is that if the good guys are able to build a large alliance early on in the game, with good outside forum communication, it's hard to beat.
Perhaps the fail safe here is to prohibit communication outside of GT.

Re: Mafia Round 5 - Christmas Edition
I think the game definitely needs some tweaking.
It seems the whole outcome is purely based on people's suspicions and how people are perceived.
Maybe that's the point?
But it was more fun pretending to be a bad guy for one round and getting voted out than it would have been spending each round making a case for why I'm good and shouldn't be voted out.
*shrugs*

Re: Mafia Round 5 - Christmas Edition
Why did Bond and Vamp trust you anyway? What if you were mafia, then it would have been game over for the villagers. I know I never fully trusted you... At one point me and Thatmariolover were even pretty sure you and Bond were mafia.

Re: Mafia Round 5 - Christmas Edition
I suppose giving everyone a more unique PM or having more special abilities than the three would have stopped the keyword system. But yeah, BAB never demanded...just prompted I should say.
And I entered the circle of trust right when it ended...ah well.

Because the rewards outweigh the risks. The only way for the good guys to win is to form a large enough alliance first that has a voting majority, and the players with powers. If this can't be done, the good guys will lose.

Re: Mafia Round 5 - Christmas Edition
Eh. I definitely didn't enjoy it as much as I usually do. Namely because I wasn't trusted by BaB, and Dyne never looked at me to confirm. So it's not like it was something that could be avoided easily. But it's hard not to feel resentful when I really wasn't allowed to participate, even if it was for a good reason.
