Re: Whatcha Readin'?
Why do you think it's a full year from release? When he finished book 4, he expected to finish the 5th within a year. That was what, 3 years ago? He already had a big part of the book ready, because book 4 and 5 were supposed to be one book instead of two...

My friend has it on pre-order and she just got notification that it would ship around October 31st 2009.
I had previously thought it was going to be released in April so let's hope that's actually the case.

Pfff... that guy is slacking big time. If you read his blog, it makes you want to chain him to his desk to finish his book. All he can talk about is football.

Re: Whatcha Readin'?
i tried reading Anna Karenina this summer, but didn't really like it as much as I thought I would. It was good and all, but I never felt compelled to pick it up. it was a disappointment, because I had read The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoyevsky the summer before, and it was probably the best book I've ever read.
not reading anything right now, i do too much reading at school. i do read comics from time to time... just finished gotham central's run... really good stuff. going to start reading something soon... maybe transmetropolitan... or the watchmen, since everyone talks about it like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Not so much reading as memorizing it.

Re: Whatcha Readin'?
I've been reading this email. It was sent to me and 25 other recipients, all with University email addresses.
....so wtf?
Quote:
Would you agree that you're seeking out someone who thinks as you do? If not, there's no
need to read more as it means that those who think just like you
are already around you.
You must attempt to compel the entire population to think your way.
Or do you prefer to encourage stupidity?
I was trying to get married this year because it would have lowered tax payments.
They told me financial considerations should play no role in matrimony.
They were lacking in interest in team work.
They're sold on the idea of finding what you love to do. This is self-deception.
A few per cent of today's GDP would be sufficient to live in comfort.
People ask how I make ends meet since I work only from time to time.
I question why they compensate popular deluders by spending money on Hollywood.
Why do they crave after motorized transport and private property?
Aren't they aware that they delight in traveling only as long as
it's approved by the general populace?
They're convinced that reality won't change. But as children, they dreamt about
immortality, ideal relationships, and perfect worlds. We are still children in our thoughts.
We'll create a cult based on rational thinking.

an intimidating number of possible queries, so only the fanatical will persevere.
