Re: TavernTales 10: Canadian Stampede
I shall be gone for most of the weekend. Doubt will be able to sneak away to GT long enough to post another chapter/section so I think 10 is the perfect stop gap. Catch up if you can. Re-read and see if their are any timeline flaws, but just enjoy.

"What happened in there?"
"I overplayed my hand for that I am sorry, but at least now we can enjoy the kill!" Dylflon defended.
Fox and Swan stood tall opposite their former friends. They had gotten rid of the guilt and grief at least for now. Now, they had to find some way to rid their minds of the image of their friend. It was not him. None of them were, but would they be able to harm him.
"We have to do it if we want to survive." Fox desperately whispered underneath his breath.
"I know," Swan confessed, "and I'm sorry Combine where ever you are."
Both groups broke from their private huddles.
"You two just don't want to die." Dyne asked.
"I mean its only a matter of time before we do win. We have the numbers. We have the skill. And we have much better control over our powers." Typhoid reported.
"That may be true, but we have the will to live while you only have the thirst for blood and once you don't get it you will be thrown off your game!" Fox fired back.
"We could continue this back and forth all day. Hell, I could have someone bring out some chairs. Maybe, we could all order some bubble tea and discuss this like gentlemen, but really at the end the results will be the same. We will kill you so let's just get it over with." As soon as Dylflon finished his statement, he ordered the Combine Army to attack.
The moment of truth had arrived. Would Fox and Swan really be able to do battle with their friend even if it was not him. The blows came swiftly and often. Lefts, rights, uppercuts, they were taking a beating this could not go on much longer. They both whispered quietly under their breath and then turned their heads up to the Army around them.
Swan got down on the ground and turned his body into a top. Fox balanced himself on the edge and then produced clay knives for his hands and feet. Swan began to spin and as he did Fox slashed and diced dozens of the Combine soldiers. Limbs fell all over the place. When Swan finally stopped spinning, only a handful of the soldiers remained.
"Good job!" Dyne clapped.
"Sadly, that was only the first wave. Oops!" Dylflon laughed. He pushed the button once again and another wave appeared.
"Will you three fight us head on? We will just continue taking out the waves!" Fox argued.
"Of course you will, and you will continue to win. That's the point of this exercise. Idiots." Dyne responded.
"Okay, let's try plan High Flying." Swan whispered to Fox.
This time Fox grabbed Swan and spun him around. He let loose as Swan flew through the air he unraveled like a blanket. He landed squarely on about half a dozen Combine soldiers. Fox with the speed of a lion reached Swan and tied up his arms and legs to capture the Combine soldiers encased inside.
He swung the new Swan axe with all his might knocking out several more of the Combine soldiers. Once again only a handful remained. This time however, Fox continued to swing in a circular motion until he built up enough momentum and sent Swan flying. While Swan was in the air, he uncoiled his body dumping the contents on top of The Coalition.
"Looks like the garbage just got taken out!" Swan said as he floated back over to Fox.
Dyne used a hydro blast to knock all of the Combine soldiers off the Coalition. They all got to their feet with death in their eyes.
"You dare!" Typhoid rushed forward but this time Fox was prepared. As Typhoid rushed forward, Fox dropped mud in front of himself and Swan. When Typhoid crossed over, he was slowed down enough for Fox to deliver a blow with his new mace like hands. This blow set Typhoid tumbling back.
Swan transformed his upper body into a shovel and scooped Typhoid up, "Probably not the first time a guy has picked you up." Swan threw Typhoid to the cops who quickly cuffed him.
"Looks like it is two and two now. Odds are a bit better."
"Silly silly Swan." Dylflon said. Damnit, Swan thought. In his moment of triumphant, he had lost his train of thought for a second. By the time, he turned around the cop had already freed Typhoid, who came rushing towards Fox and Swan. This time it was Swan who reacted first.
He tied himself between two of the banks pillars and when Typhoid came rushing into him, his speed took him forward enough then sent him flying like a giant slingshot. "Looks like he got fired."
"As we were saying, it is now..." They turned around to realize that Dyne and Dylflon were missing.
Then came a rumbling underground. It grew louder and louder as Fox and Swan looked around for the origins. Then water started to spray from the ground knocking Fox and Swan off their feet. Before, they could get to their feet they were jumped by a new wave of Combine soldiers.
Fighting a large number of enemies from a ground position proved to be more difficult than Fox and Swan imagined, but they were able to finally get back to their feet.
Battered and bruised, they recognized it would be best to recoup for now as they were too weak to take on all 3 members of The Coalition. Swan transformed into an umbrella stand and Fox grabbed hold. They began to ascend.
As they climb about 10 feet, Typhoid came rushing from the north and using a car as a launchpad grabbed held of Fox's feet. The added weight forced Swan to swerve left and right. He would be unable to shake Typhoid so Fox turned his hand into pliers and pried Typhoid's hands off his feet.
Typhoid fell for a few feet before a bed of water softened his landing. Then blast after blast of ice shards attempted to knock Swan and Fox out of the air, but Swan proved to be an ace in the air as he dodged them with little effort.
They would almost be out of Dyne's reach. Then the world around them began to slow to a crawl. Then...
"They should have tagged me in sooner. We could have saved like 30 minutes of this drama."

The end for now. Hopefully, weekend off shall give me the strength to plow through the writer's block. Though won't effect anyone here for a while.
