If you would like to share with the class - what kind of setup do you have?

Personally, I have a 37" Sharp Aquos with 1080p on the TV side of things, and a Yamaha YHT280 home-theater-in-a-box surround sound with receiver. Despite it being a HTIB, I've calibrated it enough to my liking. I recommend a HTIB (WITH a receiver) for anyone looking to start a good knowledge in surround sound. It's expandable, so you can build on it later.

I also have pretty much every game system - and a PS3 for Blu-ray.

As for future adaptability, I wouldn't mind upgrading my two front speakers so I can play PCM tracks more. I also wouldn't mind upgrading to an HDMI receiver to get that real, raw Uncompressed PCM 5.1 chugging through my room. Onkyo's got real good, cheap HDMI receivers but I don't think I'll upgrade that soon.

I got the system in seperate parts for around $1700 Canadian in total, which is an amazing setup for a poor student like me.

Im not at home right now so I cant pictures, but I have one of them older, HUGE rear projection TV's. Its a Panasonic widescreen, 1080i, its 53 inches wide, and it weighs about 500 pounds. And im not even exaggerating too much, it is insanely heavy and big and you cant take it apart into 2 pieces. Im still not sure how we got it into the basement. Anyways, the picture is still awsome, the only SLIGHT gripe of course is the viewing angle, if your standing up the picture will look dark. But as long as your at eye level, the picture rules. Ive got a Kenwood 5.1 surround reciever, an MTX Subwoofer, and both Pioneer and KLH speakers. Its kinda an old setup, but it still sounds and looks great.

In the basement we have a 46 lcd samsung. stock tv speakers for auidio and a sister who won't stop talking in the background. Pretty lame but that's why I need to get my own place. Im a cine nut and it drives me crazy when people don't stay reasonably quiet for a film.
How do you guys like to watch movies? Any kind of rituals or requirements you got in order to sit down and enjoy a film thoroughly?

I have a 32" Sharp Aquos 720p in my room with sound hooked up through my kickin' 8 year old AIWA CD player...

In the living room we have a kickin' 30" Toshiba 1080i CRT HDTV that we got for free from a person my dad was building a deck for who purchased a better TV... With sound hooked up to 2 kickin' gigantic speakers from the 80s...

It's all rather kickin'...

I bought a 42" plasma EDTV on Amazon cause it was only $1000. So while its not 'true' HD, I honestly can't tell the difference when I'm watching the HD channels. But it was too big for my room, so I moved it to the living room for all the family to enjoy.

My CPU (20" LCD monitor) is about 7 feet from the head of my bed and I watch all my shows and movies off there. I listen with headphones. That's my preference. It muffles all the outside sounds like family members, doors, that distract.
