Re: Who saw Spiderman 3? (give spoiler warnings plzx)
spiderman 3's biggest mistake was coming after spiderman 2....
okay, that was one of its many mistakes.
*spoiler*
emo parker was a hoot, seeing a packed theater laughing at the main character was kind of sad...and the whole jazz club dance scene was way to look-i'm-trying-to-be-jim-carey-from-the-mask for me.
there was too much...venom is simply one of the coolest villains, i figured the introduction of JJ's son from the second movie would have been the logical entrance point of the symbiote....instead we get a movie that has way too much going on at once.....we could have had a movie about the sandman, a movie about the second Goblin, a movie about the symbiote suit, and a movie about venom. Each of those 4 things is epic enough to mold a movie around.
Gwen was a waste of character space. I'm still trying to figure out if I enjoyed Topher Grace's performance as Brock/Venom...he was quirky but I like his persona a lot....but maybe that's just a bias from watching all the seasons of That 70's Show. Mary Jane sang...
the list goes on and on but i digress....
i did enjoy a lot of the movie, particularly all the stuff before peter became emo. i really wish more was done with doctor connors or venom though...
On the other hand, the movie did come to a logical conclusion...Harry and Pete became buds again, Harry died so Pete can bang MJ, the Sandman was forgiven, and the movie ended with a totally moral quote.
And I would be happy with the ending and maybe give the movie another star...except apparently there's supposed to be a Spider-Man 4, 5 and 6 in the works at some point.
**** that. If they knew they were making a sequel they shouldn't have botched Venom so bad.
***end spoiler***
Spider-Man 3 was a pretty good superhero movie minus a few gripes, but I spent all week before watching Spider-Man 2 which is a really really really good superhero movie. And Spider-Man 2 kind of takes a lot of the steam out of Spider-Man 3. Even the first Spider-Man does a few things better than Spider-Man 3.
Maybe the Marvel trend will continue...Spider-Man 2 was better than Spider-Man, and X-Men 2 was better than X-Men. Maybe the new Fantastic Four movie won't suck.
I'm not not recommending you go see Spider-Man 3, because it was a pretty good movie. But be warned that there are some cheesey parts between the action. And...if you're a huge fan of Venom, you might be disappointed by just how little of a role he had in the movie.
