But irrespective of Hussein's trial, my understanding is that the 30 day limit is Iraqi law, not just special circumstances determined by the courts for this one case. So the next person to be convicted of a capital offense will die that quickly, and that doesn't sit well with me.

Well, thats true, but then again 30 days is a lot better than a lot of the laws in the Middle East. I remember reading a story about a man that was arrested for molesting a child, so his "trial" was them kncking a wall on him. If he lived he was innocent, and if he died he was guilty.

Reminds me of the witch trials.
