I assume you're trying to bowl? The on screen instructions help a lot.

Bring the Wiimote up in front of you, holding 'b' will begin the character moving forward, bring the Wiimote back like your bowling ball, and then swing it forward, releasing the 'b' button when you want to release your ball.

I've noticed some iffy sensor issues with Wii Sports on occasion... While it tends to work fine most of the time, every now and then it won't pick up the throw (it just drops the ball and gives that message telling you how to throw it)... and strangely enough it always seems to happen in 3s...

I'll bowl say, 7 rounds fine... Then have 3 dropped balls in a row... Then bowl the rest of the game fine...

I think it's a sign...

bowling i've never once had a problem with.. altho my friend drops the ball a lot. and what i noticed hes doing is hes swinging back and forth so quickly, the guy on screen only took a couple steps and the ball is behind him. i keep telling him you gotta have a smooth swing back and forth. do it too fast and it cant keep up.

only game i've had issues with is boxing, sometimes it doesnt pick up swings and stuff.

but i find this more like a demo, so i cant really complain that a free demo has some iffy moments.

i've never had an issue. Is your sensor bar blocked by anything?

its not actually a sensor bar... its just an IR signal.

if you take that bar away, and unplug it. light 2 candles and put them ontop of your tv.... it'll work exactly the same way.

Sounds romantic. You could do that for your partner on valentines day, then beat each other up in a wii boxing match.

The candles actually work better. IGN tested and confirmed.

I don't think they said candles would work better. They said those would work about the same. But you can probably hook up your own little "sensor bar" with some more powerful IR projectors to give you more range and such.

And Wii Sports doesn't exactly use the sensor

Other than pointing at the screen, it is just all motion movements.

And I realize that bowling has your drop balls if you release too soon..
Boxing doesn't register most of your punches but till fun
And some other ones notice cheap motions but eh
