While Microsoft appears to have completely forgotten about backwards compatibility patches on Xbox 360, Sony's promising "perfect compatibility" once they've patched up the roughly 200 games (we're assuming this is across both PlayStation and PlayStation 2) that aren't working 100%, according to CNN.
"We are trying to get there as quickly as possible," said Sony Computer Entertainment America President and Chief Executive Kaz Hirai. Sony spokespeople said the issues were mostly related to audio glitches and how certain button actions on a PlayStation 3 controller may not exactly correspond with what the developer intended with a PS1 controller.
Wii also promises completely compatibility with the entire GameCube lineup, but without retail units available, no one knows how well that turned out yet.
