I like that they're showing game footage now. The aerial combat game was impressive. But the rest totally could've been done on the PS3, and that's unforgiveable if it's as powerful as they're gloating it is. What's the matter guys? You can't program for your own machine?

Do you mean PS2?
And if you do...
Then I don't know what to say.
I may not care much about how the Cell works.
But there is no denying. Ps3 games look awesome. Well for the most part, you always get the odd ones.
But yeah... And well Resistance till looks awesome.

Yeah, what Dyne's getting at is that the games looked awesome, but some of the tech demo things could have been similarly replicated on the PS2; Which I'd agree with (to a degree). Just think about what Microsoft did with the Ping Pong demo long before the Xbox was even out (though by the same token you could say that what devs could eek out of a PS3 for a tech demo will exponentially increase in the later parts of its life span as well). When a tech demo is the only thing being processed it makes the rendering that much easier.
I think the dramatic effect still shines, however.

Re: PlayB3yond - PS3 marketing
Resistance could in no way be done on the PS2 as anything more than a pre-rendered cutscene. When they show something that is pre-rendered, Sony takes slack for lying to gamers and when they show in game footage that in no way could be done on PS2, they get knocked for not showing off the system's power.
Then again, when you try hard enough you can criticize anything.

Tech Demos.Tech Demos.Tech Demos.Tech Demos.Tech Demos.Tech Demos.Tech Demos.Tech Demos.Tech Demos.Tech Demos.Tech Demos.Tech Demos.Tech Demos.
Read the posts again. We said the games themselves couldn't have been done on PS2 (obviously they're far too impressive).
We're talking about the Tech Demos. Honestly you're so quick to cry wolf when any of us post - even when some of us are commenting on how impressive the in-game stuff is.

Oh man, and here's another "This is Living" ad.

Seriously...
And way the narrator speaks to the viewer in the playb3yond ads I might as well have my mittens sewed to the sleeves of my jacket.

Re: PlayB3yond - PS3 marketing
i think the ps3 is showing its worth...yeah, it's expensive, yeah sony is taking a lot of risk, but in 2 years when they really tap the potential of hi-def and putting a hundred objects on screen at once, i'm sure a lot of people will be going "ohhh" and "ahhhhhh."

Whoa whoa whoa. No. That's not what I meant at all.
I said the raindrops and sunflowers could be processed by the PS3! All of that schmaltzy crap. Why didn't they use the PS3? I would have a ton more respect for Sony if they came up front and showed us exactly what the PS3 was by rendering everything. I said the exact same thing for the "This is Living" boxing ad. If your graphics and Cell processor are so impressive, Sony, why don't you render WHAT YOU'RE DISPLAYING RIGHT NOW.
Really, this marketing approach doesn't build any trust with me.

Are we hardwired to think certain ways or something?

Yeah, I think I kind of went off on a tangent and lost meaning in what I meant myself. I really didn't mean tech demo, I meant simulated FMV; which are obviously two entirely different things. If you look at my first post, that was more clear, as I was disappointed certain aspects of it were faked.
At any rate, your point is clear, mine is not (because I was lost track of my own point mid post), and the world is as it should be.

Re: PlayB3yond - PS3 marketing
And now I look like a dummy. I really edit my posts too much.
Edit: Hahaha, what is that "This is Living" ad? The Afrika footage definitely looks like it could be done on the PS2, and better, too. Where's my fur-shading techniques? That giraffe looked like plastecine.
