Re: The Long Winding Road Ends
gfx cards go from generation to generation, seems like they alternate who has the top one each time now. IMO with nvidia having a slight edge at the moment.
overall i usually prefer nvidia cards though, because thier drivers are so much better, but i would go either way depending on price/power.

as happydude just said, ATI was bought by AMD, plus, currently intel has the top processors out right now.

for the next few months anyway...until AMDs quatro core is released... i don't know why or who would need so much power.

Re: The Long Winding Road Ends
From what I understand, nVidia has the better software while ATi builds a superior GPU and card. At the end of the day its jusy a pissing contest and the benchmarks measure out miles and the end differences when comparing DX9 and Open is measured in millimeters.
So with comaparable cards nVidia gives me three extra sparks in its particle effects and ATi can push 2 extra polygons... who cares... in the end ATi was $100 cheaper for pretty much the samde damn thing.

Re: The Long Winding Road Ends
it goes card to card, generation to generation. nvidia has always had better drivers imo, but neither builds 'superior gpu/cards' thats a game of 1up, one builds a good one, the other 1ups it, then the other 1ups them in return.
no one saying you picked the wrong card. and actually im pretty sure everyone agree's you picked the right one, havnt seen anything anyone said to say you picked wrong. because i never go for the highest card anyway, i always pick the one best balanced between price/power because i feel it gives you the longest life for the money.

Re: The Long Winding Road Ends
Oh, I wasn't being defensive at all. I did my research and I know I have the best card right now with a single card set up. I was more expressing frustration with how the industry puts so much emphasis on miniscule differences in benchmark tests between comparable cards. In a real world situation, nVidia and ATi's cards are pretty much the same, yet there is so much pressure to say that one or the other dominates the technology. Thats what I'm frustrated at, because I had to do a lot of research to get passed all the propoganda and crap.
