Would you mind explaining how the movie only chose certain aspects of the second movie? I'm not very intimately familiar with the original movies, and couldn't really notice anything that wouldn't mesh well or anything.

Anyway, I thought it was alright. The biggest complaint I have, really, is the length, and that they didn't start over. I'd rather the series start over than try to continue only part of a 30 year old storyline. This movie just felt like Bryan Singer was trying to redo the old movie, rather than trying to create something new...

I think they didn't start over because the superman story has been told out in movies, TV shows, comics and cartoons so many times that it'd just be way too predictable... They could have tried to rewrite/edit history like with batman begins, and just thrown some better special effects on it, but meh.

I liked the movie personally, makes the old superman movies look absolutly horrible
