"New" is an ephemeral name though. Nothing is new forever. Does this mean this is the last SMB they plan to ever do and thus shall always be the newest one?

No, the sequel will probably be called New Super Mario Bros 2. Just like Metroid Prime got a sequel called Metroid Prime 2. >.<

And at Circuit City's discounted price.

Anyhow, "new" is a relative term in this game. More would of been better. This is super mario bros 2k6 and that is nothing but a good thing.

They added moves from later games and new powerups but for the most part. Its the simple, fire flower rules all gameplay of the original with some unique twists and turns here and there.

It is indeed an awesome game.
