Default Next-gen analyst predictions

In the latest GameInformer there is a prediction by industry analysts from Piper Jaffrey. They predict that through 2008 Xbox 360 will be in the lead with 19.6 million sold, PS3 with 15.5 million sold, and Revolution with 5 million sold.

I'm posting this here because I believe these predictions to be dead wrong, and if we're still around in 3 years I will revive this thread with the correct numbers.

My prediction:

Hm, total numers eh? We all know 360 is going to sell bad in Japan. At most, I think that 360 will sell as much as PS3 in US. Perhaps more in EU. But less in Japan. The Japanese (/Asian) market is smaller (between 25 and 30% of total)....
I think Xbox360 will sell less than PS3.

Nintendo will still be in 3rd place, but not with such a big difference.
Or it could be possible that Revolution is so great and so cheap, that it will be in 1st place, because everybody will want one.
5 million is a pathetic number.

I will probably feel stupid when re-reading this in 3 years.

The Revolution will initially be in second place but then pave it's way to first place.

Everyone should say something to their future selves in this thread.

GM of the Future, if you're reading this from a new Mac, then everything the prophecy has said is true.

My prediction is that Microsoft will continue to be bloody stubborn and keep the Xbox 360 in there until something goes utterly wrong, bringing out tons more games people won't even care to play with the exception of maybe Halo 3 and two more slots for surprises they have up their sleeve.

PS3 will kill Xbox 360's sales. They will steal most of Xbox's audience in that it will have vastly superior graphics, which is what that audience wanted the whole time. Microsoft will then have to rely on the quality of its games, of which it has very little of. Team Ninja and other major third parties that create a good amount of quality games for Microsoft will see the PS3's success and move all of their projects to it.

Revolution will have the same cult following as the Gamecube, along with the grandparents, parents and the offspring of each owner. This will amount to a hefty sum.

All 3 will do well in their own areas. Nintendo for being unique, MS for...being MS and Sony because they have the casual base behind them

I believe when I get systems I will go for the Rev and PS3, no 360 though. Not unless I have the extra cash to blow.

And to future self, 36.

You will know when the time is right...
