Nah, Blu-Ray has far more support than HD-DVD...at some point, the companies that favor HD-DVD will have to jump ship...two formats cannot coexist in the home video market

DVD+R and DVD-R are coexisting. Although a lot of players are now becoming + and - compatible to deal with the fiasco but DVD-R has always had the upper hand. I just hope DVDs don't become extinct.

well i know the PS3 will read Blu-Ray discs and DVDs...so maybe all Blu-Ray players will feature DVD playback

I hope so. How annoying would it be to have to start buying movies on another format when you've already built a collection in another format?

yes blu ray, or even HD DVD players would play all DVD's + thier new format.

in the same way a DVD drive could always read the CD format, so will the new formats, the previous stuff is built into them.
