Re: Shadow of the Colossus
I've owned the game for a while now and am close to beating it, so I'll offer some impressions.
First of all, Game of the Year. Just wanted to get that out of that way.
The game is, without any doubt in my mind, one of the greatest acheivements in the history of video games. The artwork and atmosphere of the game is spectacular. There is so much subtle emotion and realism, it's just a marvelous experience. The battles against the colossus will go down as some of the greatest moments/fights/puzzles ever seen in a video game. And the music, my God, unbeleivable.
It is a fantastic title. Though if you're still on the fence and truly wish to understand the sheer excitement and amazement that this game offers, read my spoiler below. It details one of the early colossus battles.
***Spoiler*****
After travelling a fair distance for the hub-like temple area, I come across some rigid mountain paths that lead along a waterside cliff, down into a small and sombre plateau covered in mist. A single pathway leads further to a desolate lake with the ruins of a once towering city peaking up just above the water. As I dismount my horse and move further into the lake over some parts of the city still left intact, a sudden cry is heard over head, and out from the mist comes soaring a massive eagle-like creature, circling around before perching itself on a high and massive tower in the centre of the lake. It stares at me with cold eyes, it means me no harm.
Taking out my bow, I shoot an arrow towards the massive and peaceful beast high above me. Its eyes turned amber as it lets out a painful cry. Taking off from the stone tower and circles around the lake, gaining momentum, and before I can even realize what its doing, it suddenly makes a near impossible decline and comes soaring right at me. Its wing rams right into me and I manage to grab onto it with what little strength I can harness.
What happens next can only be described as epic.
****End Spoiler****

Re: Shadow of the Colossus
The game is amazing! The landscapes and the atmospheres are friggin insane andso realistic. Movements, animations in characters are so real...
Dare I say fighting insanely huge monsters adds to the excitement. If only GOD OF WAR featured Kratos fighting that Titan... LOL
Get a PS2... play this game... and then trade them both back in if you don't want the PS2.... but this game is good enough to pick up a new console for it...

That's it, if Dyne gives it the green light, that's enough for me. Tomorrow, I will go and buy a PS2 and this game.

Re: Shadow of the Colossus
Played it today. I'm going to pass on it. Not enjoyable. I'll stick to my sports games.

Re: Shadow of the Colossus
I want to play this badly, but I don't have the money to spend on a PS2. University eats all my funds.

I played it yesterday, a bit too confusing, but the graphics are unbelievable.

I have a pair of pants you could probably have.
That is of course once I buy new, smaller pants.
