I was the ticket theatre last night at work, and there were several people bringing in little kids to both 40 Year Old Virgin and Deuce Bigalow: European Gigalo. I was ticked off at humanity for the rest of the night.

Just FYI...

I saw in an interview that the black guy in the movie had no script... He just improvised all his lines.... Was he funny? I haven't seen it yet.

As long as they don't turn around and bitch about how "these awful movies are turning their children into sex-crazed maniacs and should be banned lest we all face the wrath of Jesus", I see no problem with it...

Twas mighty good.

I work at a daycare. These kids ages 5-10 have seen some pretty intense stuff. Most have seen Saw and ask me to draw them pictures of Freddy Kouger and the clown from It describing to me scenes in gory detail. Not sexual stuff like this movie but still things I wouldn't expect a five-year-old to be watching and enjoying. What pisses me off is when I see someone feeding fast food to a baby. Makes me wanna strangle the parent. "Finish your egg mcmuffin or no ice cream for you."

Besides, you think children (some of them had to be as young as three) should be seeing these movies? One is about a man-whore and another is about a 40 year old trying to get laid. That's just irresponsible parenting, especially since my theatre has a childcare center so parents can see the movies they want to see once in a while.

Boy, if I needed to seriously chill out from my last post, this must require sedation....

you werent 'freaking out', you were just 'ticked off at humanity' or whatever you said. let some gas out of your tires, man. loosen up. take the sandpaper off your toilet seat.

what does it matter if I think it's appropriate for a child to see those movies? I am not a parent. that's not my business. if the movie rating system that your theatre follows allows a child to see the movie with their parent, then there shouldnt be a problem. if the movies are rated R, then I suggest you (or your buddies who take the ticket stubs) do your job.

I have to agree with Link that parents are far too permissive these days. While you may dismiss the effects of meia-related sex on a youth audience, Paris Hilton is still on the friggin' teen choice awards. Paris Hilton, a woman whose greatest claim to fame was getting ****ed while being taped with a nightvison camcorder. She is being treated as a role model when she should be ostricized and derided for being a dirty, vacuous whore.

There is a serious problem here (even if movies such as the ones mentioned are not very related to it).

I agree with you on the Paris Hilton remarks (in the sense that she's not pretty or talented, and she's a dirty whore), however I think she is more of a threat to teen girls (WHY CAN'T I LOOK LIKE A SKELETON TOO WAAAH!!! *gag gag* *slash slash*) than to anyone concerning her "claim to fame"...

Teens old enough to know about the sex tapes have probably seen worse, and kids who don't even know a thing about it just see a "beautiful" model or actress or whatever the heck she's done in between doing nothing... It's not like she goes on the teen choice awards and they show a montage of the sex tape for her intro...

As for taking kids to see the 40-year old virgin, sure some of them might be old enough to pick up on some of the things in the movie, and they'll probably ask questions. And that's where parents can either give a truthful, sugar-coated answer, or lie completely...

And when it comes to "Kids as young as 3", 20 bucks says everything in that movie (except maybe the part where the goofy man fell off his bike) flew right over his head...

Just to clarify because I don't know what the system is in Canada: you do know that a movie rated R means any kid can see it when accompanied by an adult, rigt?

In any case, does anybody really think parents are bringing their kids to these movies for anything resembling their own good? This is happening because some parents don't seem to have gotten it through their heads that they aren't single young people any more. They miss the good old days when they could just waltz into Braveheart and have a good time with popcorn and their friends. And so now they come into Black Hawk Down dragging the little tyke with them because they couldn't find anyone to babysit, but oh, they so wanted to see the movie!

Let's not have too much sympathy for parents just because they're raising a kid. I would bet that most of those who bring their kids to inappropriate movies know that they shouldn't be doing it. It's just that they're too selfish to do otherwise.

I couldn't agree with you more. Parenting isn't the only area of married life that is suffering due to people's lack of sacrifice for their family, but marriages themselves are ending because of attitudes like "I didn't think it was going to be like this." My 31 yr old brother is heartbroken at this moment because my "sister"-in-law has separated from him because she still wants to party and he wanted to start talking about having kids. Ok, if your 26 and married "partying" is a valid reason for not wanting kids, but when you start getting into your thirties it's time to grow the **** up.

Unfortunately we seem to be living in a world where people want to have their cake and eat it too. They want to have children, yet remain children themselves. It's like they decided to have a kid in the same way that a 5 yr. old wants a goldfish at the county fair. They scream "I want, I want, I want!" and when they finally get it they ignore it when the fun wears off and in one week "Goldie" is floating at the top of the tank.

When I have children I am fully prepared for one of us to stay home for the first 5-10 years and maybe more. Kids don't need money or stuff, they need a loving, responsible family that is willing to make the sacrifices necessary for raising a child.

I saw it last night. It was hillarious. Wasn't as gross as you guys were making it out to be, and the ending... WHAT AN ENDING!!!

And Link, have you even seen this movie? He isn't really trying to get laid at all... At least from what I got, the message was that waiting for the right person/marriage is an okay thing to do.

I have to agree with Joe on this.

The ending was great.

The message was clear. He wasn't looking to get laid, his co-workers were trying to force him to get laid. I think its a very different content.

and it was a funnie ass movie.
