I've really messed up my internal clock over the summer. I've been going to bed around 3:00-3:30 and getting up around 10:00-11:00 which equates to around 7-8 hours. Not enough for a 19 year-old.

Dyne, how much sleep should 19 year-olds like you and me get?

Anyway, today was the first day back at school, so I'll have to change my sleeping habits.

When I have school: 2-4 hours a night on average. Sometimes a little more, sometime none at all.

i get about 6-7 hours of sleep on weekdays because of school. on weekend i get about 8-10.

Did you know adolescents (ages 11-22) absolutely need 9 1/2 hours of sleep every single night? I'm talking us, the majority of this board. I used to believe I only needed 8, and I wondered why I was tired during the day, I sometimes had memory loss, and sometimes I'd seem a bit vacant. I didn't know I was actually missing a whole hour and a half of sleep I should've been getting.

If you get any less, on average as an adolescent, you'll never perform at maximum capacity. For example, your memory won't be up to par. Did you know that students who slept 40 minutes less got C's and D's in school, whereas students who got the extra 40 got A's and B's? On average.

Set a normal sleep pattern, because it makes a difference.

Generally I get 6-7 a night during the week and I can absolutly crash for 12 or 13 on the weekends (like 11 pm-12 pm)

I don't think that's consistent for everyone. Different people have different needs.

I, for example, get 7 hours a sleep every night and I feel good during the day. I have great grades...All A's, actually.

And during the summer when I go to bed, I wake up after almost exactly 7 hours of sleep, and I can't go back to sleep. It's just how much sleep I'm naturally programmed to get.
