Default Sony doesn't know games PROOF

Quote:
A recent analysis on Nintendo's DS and PSP conducted over internet discussion groups by an independent company have resulted in the DS being the favoured system of choice for consumers.

The WaveMetrix Company is a leading provider of online consumer intelligence. Through polls, surveys, Q&A sessions and first hand research from users. The company researched the opinions of a variety of consumers into different important factors of portable machines. These include - the range of games available, quality of the unit, costing, screen quality etc, giving a score (adjusted slightly taking bias into consideration) to illustrate the differences. The end result certainly suggests that the majority of consumers generally prefer Nintendo’s handheld option to Sony’s, complementing other reports previously conducted in specific regions – e.g. Japan.

Although, of course, there is the element of bias depending on the sites visited and questioned, age and exposure factors, the report suggests the data had been collected over a vast range of sources. The PSP, however, does surpass the DS in terms of the amount of discussion and hype surrounding it, with a 64% lead on how much it had been brought up. That said, unfortunately for the unit, the majority of discussion was somewhat negative.

The survey highlighted interesting factors for both consoles on what should be improved and could be taken on board by the two respective companies.

The feedback includes:

Nintendo DS
# Expand the available selection of games, reducing the number of GameBoy adaptations and puzzle titles.
# More scratch resistant durable material should be used for both screens, screens, in particular the touch area, is far too easy to damage without additional protection.
# Address what Nintendo defines as the number of dead pixels on the screens.
# Device is possibly to slow and could do with an upgraded specification according to consumers.

Sony PSP
# Range of games too narrow, may look good but not enjoyable to play.
# Frequent problems with product quality, including dead pixels.
# Thumb stick too uncomfortable and inaccurate to use according to the majority.
# Battery life is a severe issue when playing on the move most suggest.

The DS completely dominated the game category. Although the PSP seemingly has perhaps a larger quantity in comparison, the types of games have appealed to the majority because of the originality and ease of execution. In this area, the DS received a score of 0.6 out of 1, with the PSP slipping to –0.1. Both devices scored fairly poorly in quality, with issues on the DS covering the machine quality, casing along with the occasional problems with the screens. PSP, however, had a larger range of issues players expressed, including poor battery lifetime, misaligned pixels, excessive heat generation, and malfunctioning lights among other issues.

Finally, it comes down to cost and consumer incentive the DS again came out tops with special offers and a cheaper, proving more cost effective in the immediate and long term. However, this isn’t a definitive look at the overall views of consumers toward the DS and PSP but is an interesting view on a global perspective on different aspects of both consoles. Unfortunately for Sony though, Nintendo’s dual screen machine did come out tops inevitably proving that gameplay and innovation do surpass graphical aesthetics.

-.1 out of 1 for the PSP

Null, I hope you're joking. For your sake.

Both systems have some great games. There's just not enough of them. And DS has more great right now.

Neither lineups can be classified as crap. Disappointing, yes, but not crap.

Both handhelds will have their own niche.

If Nintendo was to upgrade the DS hardware right now to be PSP quality or better, they damn well better offer a nice trade-in value for a new one (ie: pay $50 if you trade in a working DS). But then again, that creates more issues then needed. I would like better looking DS Games in terms of graphics but for what it does, its fine.

I've played with the PSP a little here and there and the thumbstick did feel a little weird. I just wish both companies made a true N64/GC/PS(2)/XB joystick. Then I would be very happy

both have a couple good games yes. that does not make a good LINEUP tho, that makes a good game. if you put every game in a line for each of them, your basically sitting there with crap. sorry but its true, a good game doesnt make up for 10 bad ones.

both are well made systems, both have some good games, both have very good games ahead in the future. but both current lineups suck.

That's a little harsh on the PSP, it seems to me. I've never played one, but it looks nice.

Lyke omgaw!!!!!

A thread about how the DS is better than the PSP?

Oh no, not again!

Can someone please get on the retaliation thread of why the PSP is better than the DS?

Seriously, they are both good, and they are both bad. The DS is good, and has some good games, as does the PSP. (But I agree, most games for both handhelds right now are sort of on the bad end of the spectrum) But you have to remember, the PSP has more to offer than just games. It is a media player more or less. Its like a oversized sexy sleek Ipod that can play games.

(actually thats not far off, someone is making an adapter that lets you use usb hard drives with the psp)

just then need super battery power! lol

Yeah, putting music on the PSP is a big fat waste of space, unless you have a huge memory card that can support it, and even then I would rather use that space for a movie. Plus the PSP just isn't easy to carry around to listen to music. There is no belt clip, and even if there were you would run the huge risk of bumping into something and scratching it to pieces.

As for the games...the line ups aren't that great, but there are a couple really good games for both. For the PSP, Lumines is godly. And looking into the future, I am actually more impressed by the Nintendo DS lineup. It has a lot of fun and original games coming out. Which is sad because I have a PSP.

But I have emulators to keep me company till it's line up gets good.

i love my PSP case, doesnt make it THAT much bigger, makes it fatter, but its easier to hold onto and play when its in this case. plus while the case is closed you can still reach the headphone and power plugs. L and R buttons are open too if you listen to music, they cycle songs, but i really love this case. lol wasnt sure cuz of the price, but after getting it im glad i did.

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...&ad=AMR_pocket

and it folds back to make a stand for it, so if i wanna use it to watch a movie on a plan, i can just set it on the tray
