Wouldn't it be hilarious if the guy didn't actually do anything? Let's say he's talking to a coworker who happens to female. Its innocent. Nothing sexual or romantic or anything involved. Well the wife is a) drunk b) overly jealous c) both and overreacts and sells the car for half a pound.
So then she a) sobers up b) stops being stupid c) both adn realizes she sold perhaps their only form of transportation for less than a pound.
That'd be funnier, IMO.
