Multicolored DS = doubled sales

TOKYO--New hues is good news for Nintendo. With the release of the colored DS models, sales of the handheld are better than ever in Japan. According to sales data obtained by Dengeki Online, Nintendo saw its DS sales rise more than twofold during the week of March 21 to March 27. Sales for the week were 54,000 units, compared to the previous week's sales of 21,000 units.

Nintendo released its new Graphite Black and Pure White color models of the DS on March 24. The company will also be releasing two additional tinted models on April 21--Turquoise Blue and Candy Pink. New colors don't mean a new price. The cost remains 15,000 yen ($139). Nintendo has not announced plans to release colored DS models in the US.

This is excellent news. DS sales worldwide show no sign of slowing anytime in the next few years.

I'm thinking about importing a coloured one, but the disadvantage is that I won't get the Metroid Demo with it. And I have to buy a seperate charger.

They haven't mentioned anything about releasing the colors in North America. Just like the PSP, Sony has only released custom PSP covers in Japan. The Japs are lucky as hell...

I'm pretty sure Sony will see a rise in PSP sales when they decide to go SOLO on North America... cuz the Value pack is hurting the sales.

And in light of this news article, I highly doubt the new Gameboy is coming out anytime soon now.... I mean... release new colors and have even more people spend their money... and then publicize the DS to the max and then announce a new Gameboy.

I'd have to go with Null and say the GBA2 will probably hit us on 2007 or later.

Do you have a Euro SP? You can interchange SP/DS cables, so maybe that would work.
