Well, as one person rises in rep, that person's +reps and -reps carry more weight. Because my reputation has reached a new height, the couple of +reps I gave GM after a bet had a significant effect on his total.
Then, there's a bit of a chain reaction. As people with high rep give other members +rep, their totals will rise.
Also, perhaps there's a connection between dubloons and reputation.
