Re: I thought that I was good at Math
I just find it interesting that numbers somewhere in the universe make a googolplex look like a drop of water in an ocean.
Isn't it odd how numbers never end?

Re: I thought that I was good at Math
But then....
whats after a googolplex?
You have to think, if Numbers never end, why are there not a never ending stream of words for the neverending numbers?

It's called "infinite".

Then why stop at "Googolplex"?
Why that one?
Why not stop at Googol? Or Billion? Or Trillion?

No, I think the richest person in the world is worth like 100 billion. I think it's the CEO of WalMart

Nah, Bill Gates is the richest man in the world and he is only worth 40 Billion or so. Obviously a lot, but the only things that have trillions of dollars are entire countries/governments.

Last year, a classmate said that the founder/owner of Ikea surpassed Gates wealth. Since he's from Sweden, maybe it comes out to be less when you convert it?

Please......inifinity is a concept, not a number.
For any number with more then 100 consecutive zeros, you would just use scientific notations. 1x10E100 and so forth. Infinity can't be described in terms of numbers, because infinity is a concept, not an actual number. Infinity has a name, it is infinity.
I mean, consider that there are more infinite numbers between 0 and 1 then between 1 and infinity. Crazy stuff.

There are a set number of definite numbers between 0 and 1.

No, there isnt.
You can break the decimals down into forever.
No matter how long you go, each number can still be a 9, and it wouldnt technically be a whole number yet.
There are the same amount of numbers inbetween each number, than there are in existance.
I think that made sense. *crosses fingers*

Re: I thought that I was good at Math
Yeah, Typhoid has it down. Think about it.
0 and 1
0, .5, 1
0, .5, .25, 1
0, .5, .25, .125, 1
The series goes on infinitely. You can break it down however you want, there is an infinite set of numbers between 0 and 1.
Edit: I'm not sure about the last part of your post though. If I recall, there are more numbers between 0 and 1 then there are between 0 and infinity, but I don't know what type of numbers were being used, ie. real numbers, ect.
I'm going to consult google and get back to this thread.
