Those were sales figures from Japan.

I think it's too early yet to say which system is goin to sale most...but I'm happy to see the DS kicking butt at the moment.

And I can't wait for Dragon Quest VIII to come over here.

Hrm. Nintendo years of experiance in the handhelp dept. Yet still has crappy games.

Sony first Handheld that I know of.. Good game line up..

I think in the years to come nintendo had better step up the games they put out for the DS or Sony will take the market.. There will be fanboy riots I tell you riots..

But I mean there are few games for my SP that I would actually buy nowadays I mean I have all the metroids and goldensun, and tactics.... I don't want any kiddy games..

So I personally think that nintendo will go down eventually.. Might take a while but they will flop like they did in the console market.. They are the last to use the newer digital media.. However there handhelds are cutting edge of the handheld world. But when sony figures it out......

/end rant

Because everyone thought the PSP would dominate right from the get go. Much better specs, good price point, ect...

speak for yourself. I was 95% sure that anything named Game Boy _____ would outdo its competition for at LEAST the first 6 months.

Even though it does not say GameBoy on the box, I've heard plenty of people call it the new GameBoy. That goes for parents looking to buy a new handheld, to employees at large chain stores who don't know any better. This was especially true when I went christmas shopping. People would ask "Do you have any of the new GameBoys? Not knowing that it is actually called DS. They just associate Nintendo handheld with Gameboy. And the sales person would say the new GameBoys are more expensive, $150 then point them at the SP and say this one is cheaper, but it is not the newest Gameboy.
For Nintendo, I thinks its safe to say that this is where a majority of there handhelds get sold. To parents looking for new Gameboys for their children and they don't know the difference.

i never saw anyone who said that, not once. what everyone was saying was it would take a pretty big chunk out of nintendos share of the market, which it already has. who wins is a tossup. its anyones game at this point.

i dont know how anyone could think it would dominate from the get go, later release, + limited numbers pretty much wrote it out in big enough letters that the blind could read it. Sony isnt nor wasnt going for dominance from the start. they're planning on winning the race, not get out to the quickest lead.
