Default Re: Morrowind GOTY Can Suck Me

Morrowind GOTY is the most difficult game for an XBox to read. Over at my GameStop we always test Xbox systems that are traded in with the game and if it doesn't read we don't buy the system back.

At any rate, my condolences to you. I'd return the new copy were I you and bitch to Bethesda via their troubleshooting department. I did it with the original Morrowind because of the "Disc Read Error" that occurs when the Xbox's RAM gets full.

Hopefully you'll figure something out. It's my guess is that you've got an earlier Xbox (first year or two of making them) and you've got a Thompson drive in there. There are three types of DVD drives that MS has put in Xbox's. Thompson, Philips, and Samsung. The Samsung is the newest and best. They can read anything except DVD+R media (not a big deal unless you're modded - although remarkably I ran a DVD of the Don Hertzfielde shorts that was burned onto a DVD+R and it worked absolutely fine. The Philips are a close second with really good compatability, too. But the Thompsons... Eww... It's almost worth it to mod your Xbox just to buy one of the Samsung replacement drives online and swap it in.

All in all it's Microsoft's problem as much as Bethesda (first for the RAM problem then for the bad drives).
