I just watched The Matrix R&R (pun intended) this weekend. They're really not that bad if you don't expect too much of it.

I hate when people ask " Why is there better technology in the new movies than in the old ones?" well first off we only saw Corusant in the new ones, not the old ones so the technology is still the same or better on Corusant but we dont see it. second a weapon that can destroy a planet isn't considered an advance in technology??

They just say that because the special effects in the movie are so much better now and so people naturally think that that means everything is better.

Actually I seem to remember hearing (I think a quote, or a TV interview with Lucas himself somewhere, sometime ago) that the new movies sort of take place in a renaissance period...

Whereas in the older movies, set during a time where a war has already been going on for quite awhile now, it's more industrial "get them damn fighters ready to fly NOW" kinda thing... They didn't fret too much on making sure they were easy on the eyes...

The only obvious less-advanced thing would be the death star plans and other various computer models they used... Which were basically made with early vector graphics...
