I see your point and agree with you for the most part, but don't just bundle all rappers into the violent and stupid ass group. Germy knows what I'm talking bout cus he's heard Blackalicious/Gift Of Gab and probably other positive minded rappers.

The majority of mainstream rappers SUCK(their lyrics are seriously weak compared to underground cats) and use the whole bling, violence, and ho's shtick over and over and over on each song. But still, I can listen along and enjoy their songs because of the beats.

The main reason why rap music like that is successfull is because 1. Rappers look tough and successfull so kids admire them for having two of lifes goals; power and money and 2. You can actually dance to rap music unlike heavy metal or fast paced rock songs.

I've got to admit, my favorite rapper, Immortal Technique, is incredibly violent in most of his songs but he is never disrespectfull to women and is actually quite smart and political. I love when he rhymes about defeating his enemies just because the words he uses paint an awesome picture in my head and usually surprise me. Listen to "The 4th Branch", "The Cause of Death" and "Homeland and Hip Hop" to check out what he thinks about government and other political and religious issues. Most of his lyrics have stuff you've seen in F9/11 but this was released at least a year before the film.

I was watching something on CourtTV about serial murderers, and a bunch of psychologists were talking about how even kids who grew up in perfect families with no abuse AT ALL and having gone through no traumatic events suddenly kill. I think it's something deeper in cases like that but usually from the way they were raised as well.

What do you think I mean when I say "act black"? One word: Wiggers. White kids who try to be the stereotypical black thug you see all over TV (and you know what I mean when I say stereotypical black, I am not saying that black people in general follow the stereotype because it obviously isn't true in most cases). It's sick, though.

EDIT: I just have to say this, but the music world has an obsession with making black rappers the cool guys. You know what I mean. That's why we have "black rapper imitators". So these wiggers try to be something they're not. Can't ****ing deal with the fact that you're white? Too bad, either be proud or just shut up. Trying to be something you're not is asking for a serious ass kicking.

Yeah, but do you pretend to be a black gangster thug type guy?

If you do I will have lost all respect for you.

Thank god you said stereotypical Black thug because usually when anybody has this arguement they use Black people in general.

But still....I hate how black people are usually expected to be like that. It's like saying wearing skate shoes, biking, being in a band, listening to country, and having spiked hair means you're trying to act white. Anyone who tries to act a different race is just pathetic.

Nah, I don't try to be anything. I wear Jeans and a T-shirt. I'm not Punk or Goth or Hardcore or a Metalhead. I'm just your average looking joe(though my name is jon o.O).

But yeah, that wouldn't fit me anyways. I listen to way to much prog. and metal stuff to fall into that category, and most people know that about me.

But I don't mind a good rap band, especially that underground stuff.

1. Acebot: I totally agree with your last sentence. +rep

2. KillerGremlin: I've listened to rap back in the day, I admit, I don't anymore. I'm pretty much an average joe... one that looks down upon thugs/punks/goths/.
