The answer is simple. It's much easier to blame a material object rather then the actual problem. Movies and music get by because everyone knows it's bull**** to accuse a movie of making a kid go nuts. Lots of kids play videogames, so it's easy to associate them with violence. The real issue is the parents. Go look at any study, and you will find that the way the parents treated the kid when he was little had more to do with the kids behavior then GTA3.
