Re: New Bands Round 1 Nirvana vs. Oasis
Couldnt you have gotten a less known song by Nirvana? What about Polly, Heart Shaped Box, Nevermind or even You know you're right? But you have to take the one song that kind of makes them lose credability.
That song got way too much airtime, and somehow is considered their best song. That is pure crap.
They have tons of better songs, and i should know, i have every CD they have made, studio or live. even the newest one with the extra song on it " you know you're right"
Yes, i want a trophy and/or cookie.

I'm not a big Nirvana fan, so I just put that one. It's not even my responsibility to do the new bands, so be thankful that you have a song, lol. You're free to post a song if you want.

Ummm...I'm here for this one, I was waiting for the other poll to close before posting my bands. I mean, a last minute come back could always happen. lol But I was here on time, the other poll doesnt end for another 18 minutes.
I would have posted the ones yesterday earlier, but like I said, GT was down for a few hours yesterday. (you can ask around if you like.)
But yeah, I wasnt shunning responcibility today. :\
Anyway, I'm going to vote for Oasis, because I dont like Nirvana. People say that they "changed the face of rock and roll in a time where everything was the same." Well, they did do that, but I for one happen to think Rock and Roll was just fine the way it was before.
Oh, and a good song by Oasis is "Champagne Supernova", or "Dont Look Back in Anger".

Re: New Bands Round 1 Nirvana vs. Oasis
You guys need to calm it down a little.
So what if its half an hour late ( i dont know how late it was)
If its late, dont add tme on, just make it end at the time you normally would.
Some people ( unlike myself) have lives and cant be here to post at exact times, so it might be off by a bit. I dont see what all the commotion is about really.

Well..you can only make it end 1 day later, or 2 days later. I'm not freaking out about it, I just want to keep it organized.

Re: New Bands Round 1 Nirvana vs. Oasis
I don't know where all this animosity comes from against radio play. For a lot of bands that is how they get their name out there. Yes, songs can be overplayed but the simple fact is that the radio feeds to the demographics. So if they say they want to hear a song every 30 minutes, then that is how often it will be played. I don't listen to the radio that much. But when I do, and I hear a song I like that I didn't know of ... I know that the radio has served part of its purpose.
PS: a good song for Oasis would be Champagne Supernova (i've always liked that one)
I don't have any cds for either of these bands, and I'm not sure if they're really considered new anymore. But I have songs I like from both. I am having a hard time picking one.

Re: New Bands Round 1 Nirvana vs. Oasis
I wasnt mad at the fact they always play the song, im mad at the fact they only play THAT song. So nobody ever hears any other good music by Nirvana.

Yes, but the radio is only allowed to play songs that are released as singles. So if Nirvana wants a song heard, they'll release it. Otherwise, if someone likes what they've heard on the radio, then they will make an effort to hear more. Besides, that's what concerts are for.

We considered things form the 90's to be "new" as well.
90ish....

Yeah!!! Good Idea, maybe they can just put a mask on a pillow on the stage and say its Kurt Cobain.
Radio stations here ( iknow the fox does) plays whatever song smeone requests.
And about the concert thing, you wern't serious were you? For those of you who don't know, Kurt is kind of dead...just a little bit....only an overdose of Heroin and a Shotgun to the face, thats all, i guess he could still do a few tours.
And Dave Grohl, the drummer, hes not tied down to any other bands at all at the momment is he?
( Just incase someone does what they did last time, im not giving you minus reps, just trying to understand what you meant by "concert."

i was talking about concerts in general... i happen to know a lot about music trivia. you had mentioned in other threads the thing about radio play so I was making a general point
