Cool.....

I'm so not going to go near Fedora Core 2 as there are two bugs that bother me.
after upgrade to FC2-test1 on dual boot sys => MSwinXP is unbootable and not to mention Asus P4P800 motherboard doesn't install as I have a P4P800 Deluxe.

i have 9.0 on it right now. but i goofed somethign when messing with graphics drivers and it wont work. lol

so i decided to just wait till the new version comes out which it just did. so i'll have to download it then.

BTW, you need to up your res and download firefox for your linux there hehe.
I tried installing SuSe 9.1 last night but I ran into a slight problem *sighs*, hope to fix it tonight. I have thought of trying others that has been mentioned around like Mepis, or Xandros.

I really liked the SuSe 9.1 live-eval .iso so I hope I can get Suse 9.1 installed and to dual boot with XP pro, so i can still use xp pro for games. I jus hope I can get my MX500 to work okay in SuSe 9.1 as I couldn't quite get scroll whell to work on the SuSE 9.1 live-eval .iso

Well actually the mouse was working like a basic three button mouse. I really don't like the middle button acting as paste as I know I will turn that to false (i think) on Firefox in about:config.

First I realized I needed a PS/2 keyboard as it would hang before getting far if i had usb plug in. NOWWWWWW I have the problem of getting the right module for my network card as mine isn't listed ....arghhh ... They support asus P4P800 deluxe but the 3Com 3C940 (Gbit PCI Lan) is not listed.

This is what I got to choose from:
3c359 3Com 3c359 Tokenlink Velocity XL
3c501 3Com 3c501
3c503 3Com 3c503
3c505 3Com 3c505
3c507 3Com 3c507
3c509 3Com 3c509/3c579
3c515 3Com 3c515
3c59x 3Com 3c59x/3c90x (592/595/597)
typhoon 3Com 3CR990 Gigabit Ethernet

ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.1/boot/modules3.txt

I did find info about 3c2000 and 3c501 just now as I was searching around as I am posting this....

Doh it was in list already... goes off to try... see ya.

edit: Couldn't seem to get 3c501 or others to work in the installation attempts again. I am using the SuSe 9.1 live-eval .iso cd right now and it detected my 3Com 3C940 just fine in verbose startup for example. *sighs*

What do you guys use to play music files? The built in player in Fedora won't play MP3s for "legal reasons."

I use this program that came with my computer called Musicmatch jukebox plus, or something like that. Its pretty good, you can download songs from it, though you have to pay money, stupid legal systems. But like most or all other media players it has a burn and rip CD option. The only downside is it only plays music, but it plays anything, regardless of legal matters.

I finally got SuSe 9.1 installed early Sunday morning by FTP install, took 3 hours though. I can dual boot into XP Pro or SuSe just fine. I have KDE, Gnome, etc and have yet to setup a firefox buils I am glad Mozilla 1.6 is one of the browser choices I have to use.

SuSe is easy to use in general but also abit frustrating to setup because of way a few things are...

Please explain to me why Firefox is so much better than standard old Mozilla?

I do not get it.
dont like mozilla its big and clucky and basically just netscape anyway. firefox is thier own fully programed from the ground up one. smaller, quicker, cleaner looking. and once it gets to 1.0, mozilla will no longer exist anyway, it'll be replaced by firefox.

Mozilla will be still going once Firefox reaches 1.0 with a beta 1.0b version being planned about early July(hopefully not rushed like 0.9). Firefox 0.9 is based on Mozilla 1.7 branch and so will be Firefox 1.0. While Mozilla will have 1.8 and maybe early 1.9 at same time. http://www.mozilla.org/roadmap.html

For SuSE 9.1 Personal 9.1 besides the FTP install option, you now can get the .iso version though this does not come with most of the software(The .iso offering was a big surprise). It is even lacking the GCC libraries and the make package though. you will have to add/update online as needed after install. It fills up a 700MB cd heh.

http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de/in...showtopic=2192
http://www.suse.com/us/private/downl...t_mirrors.html
as ftp.suse.com can be slooooooooowww.

Anyways... I just reinstalled SuSE 9.1 by FTP install (six hours ago) rather than by the new Suse Personal 9.1 .iso I did reinstall becasue the first install on early last sunday was not 100% properly done to begin with and then Gnome got borked a day ago(even though I like KDE better) for example. I tried repair, didn't help before reinstall.

The MX500 middle button/scroll wheel, cruise up+down, left and right buttons works fine as should on all programs and I've yet to remap the buttons to try forb the back/forward buttons.

Firefox was a breeze to install (non-installer version)Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040615 Firefox/0.9 .. unless I use a unofficial build there are not really any new builds at moment.

That's exactly why I installed Core 1 and am not going to touch Core 2.
