Hmm I have been wanting to use linux on my computer, not sure which to try first though. I do know that "Fedora Core 2" may not be worth trying because two bugs Fedora Core 2 can make your Windows XP unbootable as I have XP Pro, and Fedora Core 2 will not install on machines with some ASUS motherboards as I have a Asus P4P800 Deluxe and don't feel like doing the work around much.
I am thinking a "SuSe" maybe...though I have not looked into it much yet.
*sighs* .. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/ is so much nicer than http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/

If only I knew of somebody that has SUSE Linux 9.1 Professional or even settle for SUSE Linux 9.1 Personal, I could *ahem* borrow it to try and see heh.

Re: Battle of the Video Cards
Actually SUSE is $90.00. They try to guilt you into paying for Linux threatening that development might stop.
Anyway.... Seven7, check your private messages about getting a.... *Cough* Trial version*Cough*

or *cough*download it*cough*cuz its free*cough cough*
i've yet to see a linux distro thats pay only. they all have thier pay box sets in stores or free downloads.
I downloaded suse 9 (which was my first time downloading one, i usually just bought em)
unless your talkin professional only which i think the free download is personal.
but i really dont see a difference that you cant fix with seperate downloads anywho.
[EDIT] Thier site says Free FTP version of 9.1 will be available for download on June 4th.
i shall be downloading it then and putting it on instead of 9.0
man i love free things

hmm maybe I'll wait and then hope there isn't a million others trying to download .. even ifit is personal only, as I would prefer having professional if possible.
I do have a fast and relativly reliable connection unlike what some shaw customers get.(with the exception of last tuesday for 6+ hours)

Maybe I'll wait for the ftp download in June, but thanks though.

well. goto best buy and the Personal is only $30
But if you got a decent internet connection. downloading is actually quite easy.
i never did it because i didnt want to have the hassle so i always bought it in store.
after trying the download with 9.0, i wont be going back to buy em anymore. pointless to pay for 9, then have them come out with 9.1 and have to buy again only to have 9.2 come out.
For downloading it, you just download a small ISO, burn it to a CD. boot with the CD and it installs just like it were on a CD, except its downloading the files as it goes.

Speaking of Best Buy, I have not looked yet to see if they even sell it here in Canada in Best Buy where I am. So maybe if they don't have it, I'll do the hassle of downloading it and burning it and such instead.

They got a list of FTP servers and Mirror FTP servers to download from, i just clicked on each ftp and timed it to which gave me the fastest responce then used that one to install it from.
[edit] have you used linux before or would this be the first time? because if your just learning it, your not going to need the pro anyway.

Ok so maybe there will be a fast mirror after abit of looking.
I was prefering Pro I guess because members at another forum were saying to get PRO for varius reasons, too tired to remember what they were at moment. Ya know If paying end's up being the only easy way to get PRO, then it would be expensive for me to try and see if it would even work heh.
Oh great I hijacked this thread ...
