Re: MGS: Twin Snakes
Beat the game yesterday! (on easy ... it was only meant to be a "test run" but I just kept going and going.. well since I got the hang of it, i'll just skip right to "hard" or "very hard" mode next time)
The good news is that the game is still very enjoyable, and more importantly, it left me with the same feeling the orignal left me with after I beat it. That feeling that you've just experienced something epic. You think to yourself; "wow, Snake came a long way, and went through a whole lot on that mission." The people he met, those he killed, and those that died before his eyes.. the entire aftermath of the experience just hits you after while credits roll with real-life footage of Alaska and the asian soundtrack "the best is yet to come" playing in the background.
(ha.. I just sat here for about 3 hrs writing some general impressions, only to delete virtually everything I just wrote because I though the post seemed too long.. I must be nutz )

Re: MGS: Twin Snakes
You guys should try playing the game on Extreme (there is an Extreme difficulty, right?)... I did that on MGS2 (while trying to get all the dogtags, too) Once you get used to where most of the enemies are it's not too hard, but there are certain sticking points, especially boss fights, that can really be frustrating. I had to fight the last boss with a slightly less-than-full bar of life and only one ration
After I beat MGS2 on Extreme, I looked back and thought "Wow... I can't believe I took the time to do that and I didn't even get all of the #%$&ing dogtags!"
And I look forward to doing it again with MGS:TS...

Actually, I saved it first(I have no intention on posting it, but I couldn't bare to toss it right out ) Don't worry, you didn't miss anything. Just some nick-picking, changes I liked/didn't, solution for better control set-up, etc. Maybe I'll could go into more detail and post it another time.

I started a file on Hard(mode before extreme). I'll play it on extreme eventually, but I want the hard mode to be the mode where I'll be fooling around after I earn stealth gear, bandana, and anythign else they have to offer.
I have to say; Even hard is turning out to be pretty damn difficult. I'm the type that like to take out all the enemies in each area, but it's quite a hassle and very risky. I'm guessing if you'll be playing on extreme, you may have to avoid a few enemies. Good luck getting all those dog-tags.

Re: MGS: Twin Snakes
I can't wait til the 23rd (pay day)... I want this game soooo bad.
D-Real, Don't listen to DsH, playing on extreme will make you hate the game
I played MGS2 on Extreme and European Extreme (substance) and they are hard as f*ck. On the second "part" of the game (the plant) I couldn't even get out of the first part without getting into a three on one fight.
The enemys can see you from a mile away, you hold less weapons and have access to less weapons. You can get killed fast as heck, and enemys have more stamina than you... it's just insane.
I'm one of the few to play MGS2 and not play MGS1 though... I doubt the first's story is a deep as MGS2's but I'm sure it has a very cool story to tell. Probably like how Matrix is compared to Reloaded and revolutions. Anyway, me wants this damn game.

Re: MGS: Twin Snakes
Question: Is there a spray can dealy in MGS:TS? Probably not because it had to do with part of the mission in MGS2, but if you sprayed a knocked-out guard with it he would wake up faster...
It made getting dog tags much easier... So if it's not in TS then getting the dog tags would be much harder and would take longer... Which would make me sad...

I can imagine... because even "hard" gave me hell just to get out of the docking area where you start. Well, until you find a good strategy. I guess that's how most area will turn out ... grind you into dust until you find "the right" strategy.
I beat the orignal PS version on the toughest level, but the AI alone in TS is sure to slaughter me. Not to mention enemies are accurate as heck and freaking relentless. I'm up for it tho!

Re: MGS: Twin Snakes
I was at Dyne's when he rented it. I had to leave because I wanted to experience the awesomeness first hand rather than watching someone play it.
I like how Raven gets out of his tank just to laugh. That was pure gold.

Re: MGS: Twin Snakes
Man, I just need to say one thing about this game. It's one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had with a game. The level of detail is awesome and the music is really good. I love it to death.
Also, I think Psycho Mantis' battle is so cool. There's so many Easter Eggs in this game. I love it. ^_^
