Looks to me like a group of people who wanted to be different and hate key phrases (which are used for the better of humankind... quicker understanding!) got together and had a Rant and Rave™ fest.
However, the media does overuse a lot of phrases. Instead of giving the boot to the phrases, give the boot to CNN. DAMN YOU KENDIS AND ROBIN!!
