Re: Spike TV's Video Game Awards
That whole channel should be nuked off the air...
I'm not watching it... But videogames.com already told who won (it's not live, afterall)...
If you think DoA Volleyball winning animation is a surprise, Madden 2004 wins game of the year...

Yeah it really isn't all that great. Sorry I even brought this up.

Any evidence of this crap should be incinerated. =\
Ugh.. the writer was horrible. "You know you're a video game addict, when.. you'd rather play with Miss Pac-man than spend a whole night with Miss Taiwan!"
Ok, I don't know about you, but maybe if you're homosexual, you might pick the pac-man. Or, you could spend a leisurely night talk with Miss Taiwan. But, any decent-minded male gamer would surely pick Miss Taiwan. ARGH

Re: Spike TV's Video Game Awards
Thank god I left for work at 8:45 or so tonight since I had received enough torture watching that. I already knew it wasn't live, but just watching the awards happen releases even more anger/dumbfoundedness....
God I really hope vga isn't around next year, otherwise BOYCOTT I SAY BOYCOTT

I need them to keep it just so I can watch wrestling on Monday night.
As for the show, while I hoped it'd be good, I knew deep down that it was going to suck. Not only does the mainstream media usually 'suck' then it comes to programs about video games, but it's SpikeTV, so naturally, I expect even less. Ad for the host, David Spade? Please. He hasn't done a single thing funny since his movies with Chris [Farley] and Chris was usually the life of the movie anyway.

Well, it's good to know I'm not missing anything by not having that darn channel.
PD: Who the heck left the door open? The whole forum is full of snow now.

Re: Spike TV's Video Game Awards
Worst video game awards ever.
THUG winning best sports and DOA winning best animation are very odd, and I like to think people cant be that stupid. THUG gets best sports and not madden, even though madden got GOTY. Odd how they had that Tony Hawk Book Boom Huckjam right after THUG won the award, or the DOA girls were on moments before DOA:XBV won bst animation, or the two WWE matches right after Smackdown won best sports title...It was one big 2 hour commercial. For wrestling, for xbox, for PS2, for Tony Hawk.
ETM better than LOTR? (why even have this category?)
Smackdown better than SCII or VF4:Evo?
DOAX and not a whole lot of other games?
Madden and not a whole lot of other games?
I think one of the worst awards they gave was Best Hanheld Game to splinter cell. My god. Advance Wars 2, Final Fantasy Tactics, Super Mario Advance 4, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga (the best handheld game this year), Fire Emblem, Castlevania. There are tons more even that are better than splinter cell.
The one factor I noticed is that all the winners seem to have large advertising time on spike TV (though Nintendo also advertises on spike, that doesnt seem to be enough to buy them an award, or even an award for a game exclusive to gamecube).
Ray Liotta best voice for GTA:VC? The game that came out last year? Typically you dont consider a game for an award show when its just a port of a game that came out a year earlier. Another instance of this: Halo best PC game. Geeze! Ever hear of a game called Call of Duty?
I can see right through this show. Voted on by fans? Ill hold my breath.

Re: Spike TV's Video Game Awards
As horrible as it was, there is one good thing that came out of this whole mess. Go to spike TV's website and go to the winners page...it playes some of the coolest videogame related techno kinda music ever. Seirously, give it a listen. There's quite a few tracks...
