Rawk never gonna die.
Also why is it not possible for Rock Band and Guitar Hero to co-exist?

Actually I wish one of them would die away soon, this reminds me fully of the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD war, we have to formats that are pretty much the exact same now and we're going to have to have two entire set ups to play each.
Like for people who have Rock band already, if they want the "full experience" of GH4 now they're gonna have to go buy a whole other set of drums and a mic. I know I'm gonna go to bird's house one day and see that he has: 2 Guitar Hero guitars, 1 GH drum kit, 1 GH mic, 2 Rock Band Guitars, 1 RB drum kit, and 1 RB mic. SO FUCKING UNNECESSARY.
So yeah, competition or not I hope one gets axed soon because this little pissing contest between Activision and Harmonix is lame as shit.

Re: BREAKING: Guitar Hero 4 Drums Revealed
Oh they most likely will. It's gonna be a constant one-upping by both sides to have the better music party game, and of course the competition will be in our favor. I'm just a bit surprised that GH went the exact path of Rock Band.

I'm not really.
I mean there are only so many guitar songs they could do.
And really drums are a huge part of a band too.
Surprised no vocals or was that information later added?

Re: BREAKING: Guitar Hero 4 Drums Revealed
Yeah, they're adding vocals too. It's gonna be sketchy though, because Harmonix used their Karaoke Revolution stuff to make the vocal part of Rock Band, and last I checked Neversoft's never made a singing game.

Wow, it's hard to believe how many issues there are with that single statement. Let's briefly explore some of them...
1) Neversoft never made a skateboarding game before Tony Hawk. Nintendo never made a 3D game before Super Mario 64. Capcom didn't make a horror game before Resident Evil. Since when was this such a scary thought? Pong was created by someone who doesn't have any interest in gaming, in fact he created the smart bomb, and Breakout was created by Steve Jobs, famous, but not or game design.
2) You're making the assumption that the staff of companies making music games are filled with musicians. Musicians are not game designers, and despite being an expert in their field, they are not experts in games. You hire people on as advisors when needed, but in general when making games much of the specialized knowledge isn't needed. The beauty of games is that they are not real-life, so we simply bend the rules. You think Nintendo hired a physicist to calculate how a fat plumber travel through the air? No, they tweak numbers until it feels fun. I'm sure Infinity Ward had some military advisors to make COD4, but much of their knowledge is a complete waste. Why? The numbers of the actual guns don't match the numbers given to the guns in the game to make it balanced, and much of the details of these weapons are omitted simply because it's a game. Same thing with music. The vast majority of the staff can make any game you can imagine. Without the staff of producers, designers, programmers, artists, and testers, you're not going to get a game.
3) Employees come and go fast in the game industry. The team that developed your favorite game 5 years ago, may not even resemble the team that is making the game now, even though they are at the same company. Don't believe me? Ok, let's look at a big game series of past years... Halo
Lead Designer: John Howard - Not a part of Halo 2 or 3
Producer: Rock Ryan - Not a part of Halo 2 or 3
Lead Producer: Hamilton Chu - Left after Halo 2
Lead Programmer: Michael Evans - Left after Halo 2
Just picked a few of the upper level people. None made it on the Halo 3 team, and only half were even around for Halo 2. That's the nature of the industry.

I say that not as I'm scared of what Neversoft cooks up, just that I reserve my judgment of the vocal system until the game is given a proper play through.

And now you make the assumption that I don't think Neversoft CAN make a decent singing part to Guitar Hero. I believe they are capable of doing such, after I've seen how well they took a franchise they didn't start and made a fairly good sequel.
All in all, my statement was made with skepticism because of Neversoft's lack of singing games, and I do believe I have a right to think in such a way. I have no problem with them proving me wrong. It's really amazing the issues you have with my skepticism. I really have no clue why you'd make such a long drawn out response to it. What I said was never meant to be taken as "Oh, Neversoft doesn't have a fucking chance becuz dey neva maed a singing gaem liek Harmonix!!!!!!11111oneoneone"

Re: BREAKING: Guitar Hero 4 Drums Revealed
One get axed soon? Rock Band has sold great, and Guitar Hero III can't be stopped. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but GHIII is the only 3rd party Wii game to ever crack the top 5 of sales charts. In other words, it's the most successful 3rd party Wii game made, and that doesn't include the other 75 systems spanning across 2 galaxies and 17 planets that it sold on.

Yeah, but Rock Band Wii comes out June 12th. It may be summer, but I know it's going to sell like hotcakes. I know 4 people offhand who are buying it right away.
