So the videogame industry had been like this lovely girl I dated through highschool which had the same interests and I enjoyed being with her and everything was fine. But in recent years I had been shunning her because she turned into a morbidly obese girl who didn't have anything in common with me anymore and did not interest me anymore. That might not be the best analogy ever but the point is... this year, everything has changed for good (IMO). Companies have started to be a bit more diverse and the companies that didn't have any serious competition in some markets now have an incentive to up the game.
We started the year with Portal 2, Mortal Kombat 9 and Crysis 2. All of these were good and tried to do things their own way. I have to single out MK9 because maybe its old school-ness helped it pique my interest. Now Alice: Madness Returns and Shadows of the Damned brought back that "don't ask too many questions and just accept it" attitude that I miss in videogames and made me sad for not having money to go out and buy them. And there's more on the way too. Rage is shaking up pretty nicely and seems like a very robust game where every idea was carefully implemented. Battlefield 3 is giving MW a run for its money since it already has more pre-orders than MW3 and pre-orders are the majority of sales normally. It seems it'll be fairly different from MW3 and looks rather nice. There were more games in my list of games that I want that elude me at the moment. But so far everything has been fairly good with the exception of Brink which didn't deliver on what I expected. But it was still decent in my eyes.
So what games are you looking forward to?

I'm on the fence about Halo CE, I mean, I liked the first three Halos, but I'm on the Bungie should have stopped at 3 bandwagon. I should be getting an Xbox within the next week so my list pretty much matches Earl's, except for some 3DS additions for me:
Star Fox 64 3D
Mario Kart 3DS
Super Mario 3D
Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor: Overclocked
possible Cave Story 3D, not sure

I am getting Skyward Sword, I forgot to mention. But I always trust Nintendo with the Zelda Franchise and they always fill my expectations on varying degrees. I'm also getting Gears of War 3 since I pre-ordered that limited Xbox 360 that comes with it.

I haven't really been paying much attention to games these days.
I don't even know what is coming out when, or even what looks good and doesn't.

It looks interesting. I can always play another zombie game. But I like the openworld aspect of this one. I will wait to see the score and then pick it up if it's good. I won't have too much money by then.

Dead Island looks really fun, actually.
Then again I never overplayed L4D (I always said I'd enjoy it more if it were open-world, like this is).
I may have heard about this and just forgotten, because now that I've seen that footage I remember being pumped for a zombie game - this was probably it.
