Hardware/Software Trends for First 18 Months
Now all of these can not be taken serious since it does come from a Nintendo presentation but even given a huge margin of error, it would still be pretty impressive.
http://kotaku.com/5010214/nintendo-w...irst-18-months
First 18 months Software:
Wii: 50.000.000
PS2: 42.000.000
360: 30.000.000
XBX: 28.000.000
PS3: 20.000.000
First 18 months Hardware:
Wii: 9.500.000
PS2: 8.500.000
360: 5.200.000
PS3: 4.200.000
Tie Ratio:
360: 5,77
Wii: 5,26
PS2: 4,94
PS3: 4,76
Granted this only covers the first 18 months of each console so that 360 has an additonal 12 months to be added to the total. But still given similar time frame, the Wii does well for itself.
And even though mentioned in the article shall point out that Wii Play does count, but Wii Sports/VC doesn't.

it'd be better with better games; why aren't they available?

Re: Hardware/Software Trends for First 18 Months
I have a hard time believing these numbers. Is this Nintendo simply aggregating the NPD numbers or did they pull some wizardry?
Edit: Is Wii Sports considered in the software sales / attach-rate?

I pointed out that Wii Sports isn't included in the software sales which would be the same for attach rate.
And like I said even if there was a HUGE mathematical error, the gap is pretty wide.
Now mind you, this is also a tiny window of time, but we do know the Wii has outsold the 360's software since December of last yr on a month to month basis.

Hey look, it's another poorly disguised "Praise-Wii" thread.

Right, but back to my original question... is this Nintendo aggregating the NPD numbers or their own "take" on the numbers?

Trust me, I wouldn't disguise a praise Wii thread.
I am simply relying sales figures here.

I assume their source would have to be the NPD since the hardware numbers match up.
Also I'm assuming the numbers are of course rounded.

Re: Hardware/Software Trends for First 18 Months
Question: this does't include virtual console sales, does it? I assume not, because then they would add XBL games too.
